Veteran Support & Services
The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) is a North Carolina cabinet-level agency established in 2015. The Department brings together services previously split among several state agencies, to better support the military and veteran populations.
DMVA is focused on protecting North Carolina's military installations, working with communities around military bases, helping military families and veterans get the support and services they need, and helping connect veterans with jobs.
Mission Statement
“To support the uniformed military, active and reserve, and their families and installations and communities as well as military veterans, their families, facilities and services in North Carolina by providing timely and responsive engagement.To enhance North Carolina's current military and veteran-friendly environment and foster and promote business, technology, transportation, education, economic development, and healthcare. To facilitate assistance and coordination between the Federal Government, the State, its political subdivisions and collaborative and supporting agencies.”
NC Veterans Affairs Commission (NCVAC)
VAC advises the Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs on matters relating to the affairs of veterans in North Carolina, to maintain a continuing review of the operation and budgeting of existing programs for veterans and their dependents, and promotes rules and regulations concerning the awarding of scholarships for Children of North Carolina Veterans.
