In a July press conference, the North Carolina Military Affairs Commission launched the “Honor Veterans by Hiring Veterans” campaign. The goal is to assist veterans’ transition into the workplace after they leave the military by collaborating with military-friendly employers and advocating for their skill sets. Major General (Ret) Rodney Anderson, the commission’s chairman, shared that they [NCMAC] have invited participating employers to share the news of their veteran hires in an effort to entice more employers to become involved. He also believes that the nearly 20,000 people transitioning from the military to North Carolina’s workforce each year will be more inclined to stay in the state now that military retirees’ pay will no longer be taxed.
