Thirteen of the universities in North Carolina have an Army ROTC program. Each year, these programs graduate cadets who are commissioned into the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Reserves, and North Carolina National Guard. North Carolina's universities contribute to the defense sector through their research programs and by educating future Army officers.
