75th Air Force Anniversary

The U.S. Air Force celebrates its 75th anniversary today!​

Today marks the transition of air activities from the Army to the Air Force. W. Stuart Symington served as the first Secretary of the Air Force.​

Seymour Johnson AFB was activated in June 1942 and deactivated in May 1946. Since its reactivation in 1956, it has served as a Tactical Air Command base.
