We celebrate all the National Guardsmen who helped with rescue efforts in Florida during Hurricane Ian.
We also remember how in 2018, more than 3,100 National Guardsmen from North Carolina responded to the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
Search and rescue efforts were completed in North Carolina and South Carolina, with more than 400 citizens rescued. Water levels were so high that military "high-water" vehicles and helicopters were necessary to transport relief supplies throughout affected areas. National Guard members also provided displaced families with meals-ready-to-eat (MREs) and water.
We are proud of our North Carolina National Guard and its service.
