The National Civic League selected Fayetteville, NC as one of 10 communities nationwide to be named an "All-America City." According to the National Civic League, the communities were chosen based on the "strength of their civic capital...and provided examples of work to improve health and well-being of young people and, by extension, all residents." Fayetteville was recognized for its youth involvement in the community, commitment to educating and empowering young people, and the city's growth and diversity.
Fayetteville previously earned the designation in 2011, 2001, and 1985, making it one of just 24 communities to be named an "All-America City" more than three times.
