Today, we remember those who lost their lives during the attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001. Our thoughts are also with those who were injured and the families who endured lasting impacts.
We recognize the commitment and courage shown by the first responders and service members who fearlessly stepped forward to defend our freedom. From North Carolina, military forces were deployed to Afghanistan and the Middle East within days of the attacks.
