Honoring Sacrifices, Remembering The Missing

Today marks National POW/MIA Recognition Day, a solemn observance dedicated to paying tribute to the courageous Americans who endured the hardships of being prisoners of war and to raising awareness about those still unaccounted for.
This day serves as a poignant reminder of the tens of thousands who remain missing from significant conflicts such as World War II, the Cold War, Korean War, the Vietnam War, and other designated conflicts. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency plays a vital role in providing the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the entire nation. As of May 22, 2023, the number of American service members missing surpasses 81,000.
