Soldiers from a specialized artillery unit in the U.S. Army, part of the 82nd Airborne Division, attached a large artillery gun called an M777 Howitzer to a CH-47 Chinook helicopter during training exercise Fireball. This took place at Fort Liberty in North Carolina on August 22, 2023. The purpose of Fireball is to test and confirm the soldiers' readiness and effectiveness in their roles.
