There are over 6,000 Airmen stationed in North Carolina, typically based at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The 4th Fighter Wing is an important group at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. Two of their four squadrons are ready to go anywhere in the world quickly to fight if needed. The other two squadrons train all the pilots who will fly F-15E planes for the Air Force. The 916th Air Refueling Wing is also at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. They are part of the Air Force Reserve Command under the Air Mobility Command. The 916th has 10 KC-46 Pegasus planes, which can refuel airborne planes.
