FRCE Artisans Restore Retired 1-4 Skyhawk

Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE) artisans recently had the rare opportunity to restore a retired Douglas A-4M Skyhawk for display at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point. This was the first time in over 20 years that FRCE has worked on the A-4 platform, which was retired by the Navy in 2003. The restoration project was unique as it featured a one-of-a-kind paint scheme honoring Marine Attack Squadron 223, who flew the A-4 until 1987. The restored A-4 showcases FRCE's ability to revive retired aircraft for display, honoring the depot's history, the aircraft's history, and the aviators who flew and serviced it.
