Since 1775, there have been 27 versions of the American flag in use. The Second Continental Congress created the Continental Army in June 1775, and with it, the Continental Colors.​Two years later, the Second Continental Congress passed a resolution stating “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union are 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” As the Nation expanded westward, the flag design was updated to reflect new states.​

Each June 6, we remember the 156,000 Allied soldiers who invaded Normandy, France by air, land, and sea. At the time, this was the largest amphibious assault in history.​D-Day is often referred to as the "beginning of the end" of World War II. Just months after troops arrived in France, the nation was liberated and no longer held by Germany. Less than one year after D-Day in the spring of 1945, the Allied nations defeated Germany, ending the Great War.​
U.S. Marines from Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 and Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron 751 carried out live aircraft fire training at Marine Corps Air Station New River in Jacksonville, North Carolina. This training exercise aimed to foster trust, teamwork, and the capacity to respond effectively during emergency situations, with U.S. Marine Corps firefighters at the forefront.​

Many also possess technical skills and soft skills including discipline and punctuality, the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team, and experience working in a large, complex organization.​Today's veterans are career-ready and belong to an impressive population entering the North Carolina workforce.​
