The North Carolina Defense Summit (NCDS) included panels focused on a variety of topics. The Military Best Practices panel provided examples of what the Seymour-Johnson Air Force Base (SJAFB) Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) offers. Examples of resources provided include a series of workshops aimed at enhancing employment opportunities for military spouses and transitioning service members, with a focus on federal resume workshops. This is complemented by Wayne Community College Business Center's emphasis on industry-specific resume and interview training.

The National Day of the Deployed is observed annually on October 26th in the United States to honor the brave men and women who have been deployed in service to their country. The day was first observed in 2006 in North Dakota, and it has since spread across the nation as a time to recognize and appreciate the sacrifices made by military service members who are away from home, fulfilling their duties. Families, friends, and communities come together on this day to send care packages, hold ceremonies, and participate in other acts of support and gratitude.
Soldiers from a specialized artillery unit in the U.S. Army, part of the 82nd Airborne Division, attached a large artillery gun called an M777 Howitzer to a CH-47 Chinook helicopter during training exercise Fireball.
