U.S. Paratroopers assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division host students from E.E. Smith High School and Albritton Middle School and demonstrate some drone technology used by the Division. The students were invited on a science, technology, engineering, and math (S.T.E.M.) field trip where Paratroopers showcased some of the technology commonly used during field operations.​

Military installations provide learning opportunities for students around the community. These trips often showcase S.T.E.M. skills used by military servicemembers.​
North Carolina is one of 21 states that participates in the National Association of State Personnel Executives (NASPE) Military Spouse Transition Network. The program provides career resources for state agency-employed military spouses moving to or from NASPE-participating states.​

For NC, this opportunity draws qualified and experienced individuals from partner states. ​

Today we remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s contributions to the civil rights movement in the U.S. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed the King Holiday Bill into law, designating the third Monday of January a federal holiday in honor of Dr. King.​

Eleven years later in 1994, President Bill Clinton signed the King Holiday and Service Act. This encourages Americans to seek out volunteer opportunities to honor Dr. King's legacy while giving back to their community and make the holiday “a day on, not a day off."

The U.S. Army partnered with the UNC Medical Center to provide military surgeons on staff at the Level 1 Trauma Center.​

After returning from deployments, military surgeons are often assigned to military treatment facilities where trauma is low. Having the opportunity to serve at a Level 1 Trauma Center allows surgeons to have continual training. The UNC Medical Center receives experienced surgical staff to assist in serving the community.​

The start of 2023 saw President Joe Biden sign the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act. This will allow military spouses who are professionally licensed, such as teachers, nurses, and cosmetologists, to receive reciprocity when entering a new state with a valid license.​

The Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and former military dependent, Kathi Vidal, held a discussion on best practices for business owners and entrepreneurs during the Nov. 7, 2022, Entrepreneur Essentials event at Pope Air Field.​
The North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) will host its “Introduction to Federal Contracting” session four times in 2023. The first virtual session is scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 0900-1030.​

This training is an introduction to doing business with the federal government. A variety of topics will be included to assist businesses interested in seeking out federal contracts. Registration is required.​
